Sprouts are very nutritious for you and I put them in everything especially sandwiches or wraps. For those of you who are uncertain about how to do this I will show you with complete instructions so it is simple and easy for you to understand. Lets start out with the Jar. Any mason Jar will work. Mine is wide mouth and it has a plastic lid with a screen in it. as shown in the picture.
Mason Jar
I’m going to do alfalfa sprouts: 2 tablespoons in the jar with water fill half way up let sit for 12 hours. drain some water and add fresh leave over night. Day 1 complete.
Next morning drain and rinse the seeds by adding water through the screen you do not have to remove the lid. Draining, you can now place it upside down in a dish drainer, repeat a few times during the day. Day 2 complete.
Same for day 3 and you will notice that they are starting to come out of the shell. Rinsing and draining Day 3 complete.
Rinsing and draining for day 4 and it is getting to be a bunch in there now (I’m on day 4) They are just now by the time of this posting getting a little bit of green on the sprouts. So after rinsing and draining them 2 times, I will then put them in a window to give them more light and sun(if it comes out). Day 4 complete.
For at least one more day or two. Continue to rinse and drain and when done draining place back in lighted window. Day 5 complete. On the 6th day you might want to give them a final rinse or two.
So you can see by the picture there are quite a few and by the time you take them out there will be a full jar. Not bad for 2 tablespoons of seed.
Pull them out of the jar and place your sprouts on a moist paper towel in the bottom of a sealed container and then place in the fridge. They should last several days this way. Then you can start on a new batch. 😀 ~ Enjoy I hope you found this helpful!
